How your company can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals

At The Good Roll, sustainability is our driving force, and it goes beyond just making a profit. We are determined to make a positive impact on the world, and we want you to join us! Let's dive into our story together and discover how your business can contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Together, we can make a difference!

The Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are seventeen goals to make the world a better place by 2030. They serve as a global compass for challenges like poverty, education, and the climate crisis. Below, you can learn which goals you could contribute to by rolling with us!

SDG 3: good health and wellbeing

A healthy future for everyone. Healthy people are the foundation of healthy economies, and premature deaths due to disease or mental health issues must be prevented. In developing countries, there is often limited knowledge about certain diseases, and children suffer from diarrhea, partly due to the lack of clean sanitation facilities.

SDG 4: quality education

The right to education is fundamental to all other human rights. Yet, 121 million children have never been to school or have dropped out early. Some cannot attend school because of the absence of sanitation facilities, or because girls, for example, do not have the same opportunities. In addition to building toilets, we also share knowledge about hygiene and health and provide local education to children, contributing to a better future.

SDG 5: gender equality

Did you know that women make up more than half of the world's population? However, women often face discrimination. Menstruation is often associated with a lack of education, social stigmas, and expensive sanitation products in developing countries. These factors often force girls to stay home during their periods, resulting in educational disparities and falling behind boys. This results in girls missing an average of 3 months of education per year! We find this unacceptable and unnecessary. Thanks to our projects, girls can attend school more often, breaking down barriers!

SDG 6: clean water and sanitation

In addition to SDG 6, the seventh Millennium Development Goal (MDG) also focuses on a more sustainable environment. This goal aimed to halve the number of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation facilities, such as toilets. Additionally, three million people die each year due to poor water quality and inadequate access to drinking water. The majority of these victims are children under the age of five. The Good Roll donates 50% of its net profit to building clean and safe toilets in Africa, contributing to achieving this goal!

SDG 8: decent work and economic growth

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), the fight against job insecurity is a priority. In 2014, 201 million people were unemployed, and 21 million people were victims of forced labor. We create employment opportunities and stimulate local economies with our projects. This makes the job market fairer, more equitable, and safer for everyone!

SDG 12: responsible consumption and production

We produce and consume without sufficient consideration for the impact on the planet's natural resources. The current situation is unsustainable, and therefore, we must "do more with less." If we maintain the current lifestyle of developed countries, we will need resources equivalent to three planets! For this reason, all products from The Good Roll are made from 100% recycled paper, which is also biodegradable. We promote the growth of bamboo and trees, are carbon-negative, and protect biodiversity and aquatic life!
