To disrupt an industry is all about inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun.” The Good Roll is changing the world toilet paper market with a unique proposition; fair trade bamboo toilet paper, which is produced in our own factory in Ghana. In doing so, we are making a huge impact in Ghana in terms of employment and prosperity.
The Good Roll has grown enormously over the past 4 years and we are very proud of what we have achieved, but our ambitions extend much further and that is why we started crowdfunding.
Our goal is to become much bigger, so that we can make even more of a difference for many people in Africa. The sale of our toilet rolls ensures that we can make even more impact; social, economic and ecological. Because we want to really matter, really make a difference. If we achieve our goal – our Big Hairy Audacious Goal – we will generate extra income for tens of thousands of small farmers, provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of people, and improve the living conditions of hundreds of thousands of people where they are most needed. .
We experience daily that the demand for bamboo toilet paper is huge and is attracting enormously. On the one hand, this is because of a sustainability idea. The consumer no longer accepts that trees are cut down for the sake of paper production. Although this already results in a shift to recycled paper, it offers hardly any solace. Because the online economy means that more and more paper pulp – also recycled – is sent to the packaging industry for sending packages. On the other hand, there is a business economic perspective. Because the recently increased price of gas and electricity is causing the production of paper pulp worldwide to stagnate and an increasing scarcity. So you really have to switch to an alternative. And let's just have that available now! We have a product that is completely sustainable/more sustainable in terms of growth, felling and (re)use of the raw material, which is attractive in price and which is also paper with a purpose!
Recent market developments and growing market demand support our ability to achieve our revenue, profit and impact targets. However, we will then need to further expand and strengthen our dedicated team. We need to professionalize our organization even more and make our processes and systems even more robust. And parallel to that, we need to make our brand(s) known to a wider target group; in the Netherlands and abroad. But, as stated in the introduction, that requires money.
So we're looking for money. Good money, because that suits The Good Roll after all. That means money from people who also believe in 'fix the world and make money'. Money from people who believe in our mission to make the world a little better with a product that is made in a fair trade way from a sustainable raw material. And with which a portion of the proceeds is donated to improve lives that are usually a lot less comfortable than our own. Your money?
